COACH SHONNA

HEAD COACH 162 EMERALD(2026-2027)

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Coach Shonna brings a lifetime of passion, leadership, and competitive fire to the court. A four-year varsity standout and district MVP hitter, she went on to play collegiate volleyball as a middle blocker and all-around player, gaining valuable experience competing at a higher level. Her years as both an athlete and coach have given her a deep understanding of the game and the ability to inspire players to reach their full potential.

Before joining Austin Velocity, Coach Shonna coached varsity-level teams at Austin Waldorf School and Summit Christian Academy, as well as at Volleyworld Next Level Training. She has trained hundreds of athletes through private lessons and clinics, focusing on skill development, volleyball IQ, and mental toughness.

Coach Shonna’s philosophy centers around discipline, confidence, and consistency. She believes great players are built through hard work, accountability, and a growth mindset. Her practices emphasize mastering fundamentals, maintaining intensity, and developing game awareness that translates into competitive success.

In addition to coaching, Coach Shonna is a dedicated youth mentor, passionate about guiding young athletes not only in sports but also in life. She strives to build confident, respectful, and resilient young women who carry their strength far beyond the game.
